Sleep and Then is an easily distinguishable experimental work with its visual integrity and strong expression. The film deliberately gives tastes of silent movie epoch with successful art direction and purposeful cinematography. (Guy Maddin inevitably comes to mind.) Its dimly perceived topic stands coherent with the dream theme. Our girl gets rid of her troubles that annoy her and leave her sleepless not by showing indifference to them but by relying on people’s love and compassion.
